The Background behind Deco Inspiring and Inspiration

Deco Inspiring came about when I was playing with ideas to design a range of Art Deco garments.
My supportive mother had been encouraging me for a while to design Art Deco clothing. The Deco Inspiring show is a result of wanting to have a Fashion Parade of my garments which has now become Deco Inspiring - The Show incorporating Music, Dance and Fashion of the 1920s- 30s era.

The Show has given me the opportunity to let my visual ,creative mind really have some fun. I've kept expanding on ideas and growing them.

My sister and I spent a lot of our childhood dancing, on the stage and being taken around the country competing in competitions
during our school holidays. Our mother spent many hours making our costumes and was a dedicated dancing mother.

I am looking forward to working with so many talented dancers and musical people from the Napier region.

The designers competition has come about as I feel it would be great to share the fun and excitement with more Artists.
There is no requirement for entry ,you just need to have the desire to create, want to have fun and give it a go.

To me Deco Inspiring is about looking ahead to see what we can create from a past era
and expand on that inspiration for the future.

With your support I feel we can all create something very unique for the Art Deco City of Napier.
